Berta Sichel is Director of Bureau Phi Art Agency, an international firm based in Madrid that specializes in the creation and implementation of custom artistic projects, commissions, video programs and educational projects. Having established the agency in 2014, Berta also serves as a consultant on matters pertaining to collection, development and project management.

After earning a Master of Arts in Media Ecology from New York University, Berta spent over two decades on the art scene in New York. Her work frequently explores how technology has changed the ways we make, see and experience art, which she continued to research in postgraduate study. While in New York, Berta was invited to guest curate at numerous prestigious galleries, including ArtPace, Cifo, the Whitney, and the Manhattan Pratt Art Galerie. For 6 years, she served as adjunct faculty at the New School of Social Research’s Media Studies Program.

Prior to establishing Bureau Phi, Berta spent 12 years as the Curator of Media Arts at Museo Reina Sofia, where she established its video collection from the ground up. Having built up an impressive network of international connections across artistic and cultural centers of influence, she knew it was time to branch out on her own. In addition to her lifetime membership in the IAA, Berta is a member of the International Association of Curators.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Berta is an avid traveler, and makes frequent trips to her former home of New York.

International Alumni Association VIP Member Berta Sichel can be found on the Association Directory, where he is looking forward to networking with you.
