Biography

Michael Edelson, Principal Partner at Edelson Clifford D'Angelo Friedman LLP, has been a successful criminal defense lawyer for thirty eight years. His motivation and ambitious outlook on thinking ahead has helped him win many big cases and gain international recognition. Michael uses his experience to teach criminal law as an adjunct professor to young laws students and lawyers to help them excel as well. He is part of many top societies such as the Law Society of Upper Canada (certified since 1989 as a Specialist in Criminal Litigation), County of Carleton Law Association Criminal Lawyers' Association, National Association of Criminal Defense, Lawyers Defense Counsel Association of Ottawa and The Advocates' Society. In addition, he has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. This honour is reserved for the top one percent of trial lawyers in each state and province in the US and Canada. A lawyer must be nominated for this honour which is awarded only after a lengthy due diligence process His key to success is ten percent inspiration and ninety percent perspiration which have brought him to many highlights in his careers such as being one of the top defence lawyers in Canada. Michael is continuing to be a mentor and oversees his firm and also is a co author for the fourth edition of his upcoming book: Cross Examination: Art of the Advocate which is going to be released soon.
