Estifanos Biru Shargie is a Senior Specialist, Public Health Impact Evaluation at The Global Fund. The Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria raises and invests nearly four billion dollars every year to support country-led and community-centered programs in countries that are most in need. The Global Fund is dedicated to finding health solutions to bring an end to AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis by partnering with governments, civil society and local communities. Estifanos adds value to the positive impact of the Global Fund by coordinating joint evaluations of the national disease programs for HIV, malaria and tuberculosis, performing health sector reviews, and assessing the health impact of investments in disease control efforts. His responsibilities also include data systems and quality assessments as well as analysis of gaps and investment needs in country data systems. Estifanos has so far contributed to 29 publications and he shares his vast knowledge of experience giving presentations and training regularly. He started at the Global Fund in 2009 as a Senior Epidemiologist and advanced to his current role in 2012. He is passionate and committed to finding solutions to offer better access to treatment and drugs and expand awareness in order to help fight diseases in communities and is optimistic about the opportunities presented by advancing technology.
