Gilman Hanson has been the Chief Design Officer at Hanson Design since he founded the company in 1988. His expertise lies in strategizing, designing and implementing brands for web, consumer packaging, retail and corporate communications. Gil directs brand strategy and oversees creative. Today Hanson Design offers their clients new ways of brand engagement with multiple segment audiences. Their goal is to create memorable and enticing brand experiences that engage consumers anytime and anywhere around the globe. Hanson believes that the key to his success is 1. understanding the goals and objectives of his clients, 2. knowing intimately who the audiences, 3. creating visceral brands that are distinct and relevant. He often encourages his creative team to venture into the unknown to discover new perspectives and fresh ideas. He and his talented team of marketers, designers, writers, programmers and consultants have created award winning solutions for clients such as American Express, Aramark, AstraZeneca, Bentley Systems, EDMC, JPMorgan, Kraft Foods, Finlandia, Colgate-Palmolive, MAACO, Pernod Ricard, Sodexo and ZeroWater. In addition to Hanson Design, Gilman also works with international partners - Berger Farrell in South Africa and Commcepta in Brazil. These alliances provide global brand solutions for a wide range of firms including: Aramark, Pernod Ricard, Unilever, SAB Miller, Sodexo, Irving & Johnson, Kraft, PepsiCo, Henkel, Chivas Regal, Brown Forman and McDonalds. Gilman has helped Fortune 500 companies worldwide on strategic brand design issues such as brand identity, brand marketing, web design, social media, retail design and consumer packaging. Additionally, Gilman’s award-winning designs have been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), International Brand Packaging Awards, International Beverage Council, the Brand Design Association, and have been featured in Brand Week, Restaurants News, Automotive Aftermarket and other trend-setting thought-leading journals. Hanson has also authored numerous white papers on brand influences and marketing design trends including uses of Social Media and Human Aesthetics. He has been a speaker at national packaging design conferences and has served as a judge on various design competitions. Gil holds a BFA in Design and Communications from the Rhode Island School of Design, and has also studied at Fleming College in Florence, Italy and at Colby College in Waterville, ME. He particpates regularly in supporting global humanitarian relief international peace. He loves being a father and husband. And enjoys biking, skiing, swimming, and traveling.
